The SHT offers a range of services and programs, employing both female and male counselling and support staff. The Team is made up of 100% Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employees.

The SHT provides counselling, advocacy and referral to other agencies, and employ substance misuse counsellors, Bringing Them Home counsellors, Mental Health workers, Tobacco Cessation workers, Healthy Lifestyle workers, Justice Reinvestment and Drug and Alcohol workers. They offer social and emotional wellbeing programs, outreach services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in custody at Bimberi Youth Justice Centre and the Alexander Maconochie Centre, a Home Maintenance program, work closely with clients and other providers around care and protection matters, legal issues, financial matters, housing, client assistance (food, clothing, transport, funeral support, relationship breakdown and more).

The SHT undertake community development activities and one of their major aims is to promote pride in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture.
